"Fanfare in Bb" for Three Trombones and Orchestra
written for the 25th anniversary of the Trombone Section of The Louisville Orchestra (Pat McHugh, Joseph Parrish, Raymond Horton).
The work was played at the Louisville Orchestra season-opening "Fanfara" concert (called "brilliant, spiky" by The Courier Journal's Andrew Adler) and twice again very soon after: at the Contemporary Music Festival at Indiana State University; and in a version for concert band by the University of Louisville Symphonic Band.
The work lasts a quick three and 1/2 minutes, is light but interesting and challenging for all without being overly difficult.
